Box office report 17/10/11

Oosaravelli : Young Tiger NTR's Oosaravelli hit the screens on Vijayadasami amidst very high expectations. The movie has the voluptuous Tamanna as the heroine and stylish director Surender Reddy handled the film. Devi Sri Prasad scored the music while Rasool Ellore took care of cinematography. The movie has released to some terrific openings. The story revolves around Tony (NTR), Niharika (Tamanna) and Ajju Bhai (Prakash Raj). Tony is a small time goon in Mumbai who beats and intimidates people for money. He comes across Niharika in unexpected circumstances and falls for her. He tries to woo her and she reciprocates after a while. On the sidelines, he goes about hunting Ajju Bhai and gang. Niharika has a past and it is connected to Tony and Ajju Bhai. What is that connection? Why does Tony hunt Ajju Bhai's gang?
No. 2nd position at the box office..
Solid performances from NTR and Tamanna. Tamanna steals the show in the second half and she has greater appeal now, with good histrionics complementing terrific beauty. Decent comedy in the first half from NTR, Raghubabu and gang. Stupendous dances from NTR in Dandiya India song while Niharika and Nenante Naku are nicely shot. Good background score from Devi Sri.
Slow and tedious second half where screenplay goes for a toss is the main culprit. NTR is not allowed to show his true power in terms of dialogues and emotions so that is a slight disappointment for people in B and C centers. Repetitive performance from Prakash Raj. Shayaji Shinde,Kick Shyam and M.S.Narayana are wasted. The attempt to introduce commercial elements into a serious story does not work completely.

Dookudu : Prince Mahesh Babu is back in a full length commercial character after a while and this time, he teamed up with Comedy King Sreenu Vytla. Together, they worked on Dookudu and the movie hit the screens last friday to some wild and enthusiastic response from the Box Office. Mahesh Babu stars as dynamic Police Officer Ajay. He takes off for Turkey in hot pursuit of Don Nayak (Sonu Sood) and thats where he meets Prashanthi (Samantha), who happens to be the daughter of his senior officer Nasser. Back home, Ajay's father Shankar Narayana, a strong and popular leader in Hyderabad, wakes up from a long coma. Shankar Narayana expects Ajay to be a leader for his people. Afraid of disappointing and hurting his father, Ajay hatches a plan to keep him happy. Meanwhile, Shankar Narayana and Don Nayak share a common past. What is it? And will Ajay succeed in eliminating Don Nayak?
No. 1st position at the box office..
Mahesh Babu just rocks in the role of Police Officer Ajay. His telangana dialect, body language and comedy timing are just way too good.He is ably supported by some terrific comedy from Brahmanandam and M.S.Narayana. Samantha adds to the glamour quotient. Emotional scenes between Prakash Raj and Mahesh Babu will appeal to family crowds.
A slightly long second half and near zero performance scope for Samantha are glaringly obvious.
